What do we do?

Sunny Side Up specialises in web-development using the Silverstripe Content Management System (CMS). We also provide related services. Below is an overview of how we can help you.

at your service hour

We have a service hour set aside a few times a week, where anyone can call in with any minor issue. We welcome any web-related question from anyone: help with the CMS, any bugs, search engine optimisation, etc... We will never charge for any help provided during our service hour. We will not do any actual coding during this time, but it is an opportunity to discuss any questions you may have.

Time slots

If we can not help you during our service hour then there are a number of other options. All of these options are per four hour time-slot.

Sunny Side Up can give you an estimate for the number of timeslots needed to complete your project, based on the information available (i.e. if you have a very vague request, such as "can you make a nice website" then we can only give a very vague estimate).

It is crucial that all project factors are known at the time of estimation. Any project changes or even refinements can add additional hours. What may seem like a small addition can add a lot of extra time. Whenever any details are undefined at the time of estimation, they can be interpreted by us as Sunny Side Up sees fit. This usually equates to the easiest option and not necessarily the best or most sophisticated way to solve an issue.

The Client may ask Sunny Side Up to develop a reverse brief (working out what you really want). For most projects, the cost will be between four (small project) and twelve hours (large project), While that may seem excessive or a waste of development time, it can actually save The Client a lot of time and money by making the right decisions upfront.

The cost per four hour slot depends on number of hours you purchase per year. 

short-term projects

Up to sixteen hours per year.

medium term projects

Up to fifty-two hours per year.

long-term projects

More than fifty-two hours per year.

emergencies

If you have an urgent situation or emergency then we have a callout option. This option is charged per fifteen minutes.

booking developer time

you must make a booking

All services must be booked in writing (email is fine) or through this website. We do not provide any service without a booking. You have to make sure that we confirm your booking. Below is an overview of the options.

special pricing

We offer special pricing for NGOs and similar type organisations, e.g. local community project, on a case by case basis. Please apply for a "sponsorship account".

what is the rational behind our service provision

In a traditional service model, any client can call at any time with any question. From there, a fixed price or an hourly rate is established. There are many problems with this way of working:

• impossible to work out exact starting and end times
• many interruptions
• a lot of risk for the client: when will it get done, how much will it cost, etc...
• a lot of risk for the developer: how do we manage our time, what if it takes three times as long as anticipated?
• when can we sign off a project?
• mis-match of expectations (e.g. what is urgent?)
• etc...
